An unprecedented and devastating flash flood submerged the wetland of Sylhet, Sunamganj, Habiganj, Netrokona, Kishoreganj and Moulvibazar districts of Bangladesh. The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) of Bangladesh reported that 266581 hectors of land got submerged during the flood. Thousands of growers in this wetland ecosystem had never experienced flash floods striking this early as in this season, completely destroying paddies in over one hundred thousand hectares of land. Hundreds and thousands of men, women and children have been affected badly. Children and adolescents become particularly vulnerable as they stopped going to school.
We appeal to benevolent and generous individuals and organizations to extend support to the flood victims.
It is so wonderful to see that we can work for a common good, when needed!
