School Feeding Program in Poverty Prone Areas (SFP-PPA)

POPI in association with the DPE and WFP have been supporting the children of poverty prone areas to increase attendance rate of the students and also to boost up their nutrition status through supplying High Energy Biscuits (HEB) throughout the year. Earlier the program was for Fulbaria, Gouripur and Haluaghat Upazilla. But in 2016, it was expanded further to Kalmakanda Upazilla . A total of 1, 95,991 children from 722 schools received HEB regularly at their classrooms resulting in increase of attendance and better academic performance.

 

Goal of the project:

To contribute in the achievement of Universal Primary Education Policy of Government of Bangladesh and SDG-4 through serving and developing 1,57, 270 primary school students at 03 upazilas in Mymensingh district (poverty prone).

 

Purposes of the project/results:

(1) Increased enrollment and attendance of 555 pre-primary and primary schools in Fulbaria, Gouripur and Haluaghat upazilas.
(2) Improved learning abilities of 1,57,270 primary and Ebtedaiya school students of 555 schools of target areas through reduction of micro nutrient deficiencies.
(3) This endeavor will enhance Government officials, teachers and SMCs capacities to implement SFP in target areas in targeted schools for targeted students efficiently and effectively.
