Small Floating School (LfL)

Small Floating School project is funded by Learning for Life (LfL) a British charity and being implemented in Chatirchar union of Nikli Upazilla of Kishoregonj district. The key objective of this project is to impart education to the underprivileged and hard to reach children of haor areas and build a platform for adolescent girls to interact among themselves and receive information related to improvement of their life skills. The duration of the project is 3 years (January, 2018- December 2020).

This one batch one school is housed in specially designed and built mechanized boat with relevant learning facilities and teaching aids. The trained teachers conduct the academic classes following the national curriculum and SONGLAP sessions following POPI’s guideline on regular basis. The major activities that are conducted under this project include:

  1.  Conducting social mobilization
  2. Enrolling potential students/ adolescent
  3.  Procurement of appropriate boat for housing the school
  4. Collecting text books and uniforms from Upazilla Educating Office
  5. Conducting classes and SONGLAP sessions in the floating school boat
  6. Monitoring and assessing the progress made by the students
  7. Conducting bi-monthly meeting with the school management committee and
  8. Arranging extracurricular activities and annual sport event etc.
